The Big Barn is impressive and welcoming. Its solid oak beams, Victorian brickwork, and wooden floorboards reflect the long history of its many uses. The space is unheated and uninsulated, retaining the authentic character of a traditional agricultural building.

It is well suited for presentations and talks, and includes a full AV setup with projector, screen and speakers, plus folding chairs for up to 80 people.

In the morning, sunlight streams in through the large open doors leading to the lawn — making the barn ideal for movement exercises and yoga classes, where participants can feel both sheltered and connected to the outdoors. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be served at long wooden tables, transforming the space into a natural banquet hall for larger groups.

Built in 1870 and thoughtfully restored, the barn continues to hold its historic presence. Visitors are always welcome to learn more about its architecture and heritage; further details can be found on our About pages.

A typical lunch at an event. Participants often help event organisers to set up, which is a good way to bring larger groups together.
